LA PLATA, Maryland — Satellite Ka-, L- and S-band fleet operator Viasat Inc. said characterized the debut of its 3GPP-standards direct-to-device service with Skylo Technologies and Ligado as in “market discovery” phase that will begin slowly with no Viasat capex contribution.
The service began in late January in North America using Skylo’s network and back-office solution and the SkyTerra-1 geostationary-orbit satellite launched in 2010 and now owned by Ligado, which has L-band access rights in the United States.
